The Wilson Ornithological Society

Periodicals Currently Received

by the Van Tyne Library

Following is a list of serial publications currently received by the Josselyn Van Tyne Memorial Library as exchanges for the Wilson Bulletin, as complimentary copies, as gifts from members, and by subscription. The last list of currently received publications was published in the Wilson Bulletin in 1978, and the last list of complete periodical holdings was published in 1956. Catalogued items are listed in the University of Michigan on-line catalogue MIRLYN, accessable through the University web page.

CIRCULATION:

Members: The serial publications of the Library are catalogued and bound by the University of Michigan Library, and are housed in the Museum of Zoology Bird Division Library. Except for certain rare items which are non-circulating, the serials, like the books, can be mailed out on request to members of the Society in the U.S. and Canada. The University pays postage one way and the borrower pays the return. Members should send inquiries, including complete citations, to the library. We prefer providing photocopies of articles to lending the bound volumes.

Non-members: Please request catalogued items through Inter-Library Loan; uncatalogued items directly from Janet Hinshaw.

DONATIONS:

If any members have issues of our incomplete titles, or titles not listed, which they would be willing to donate to the library, please write to the librarian about them. They would be greatly appreciated. We would also like members who publish ornithological papers in journals not listed to send reprints to the Library. All gifts are acknowledged in the annual report of the Library, published in the proceedings of the annual meeting. Duplicate items may be sold, or traded to other libraries. The library contains serials, books, monographs, pamphlets, reprints, meeting abstracts, recordings, and translations.

HOW TO READ THE LIST:

Following each title listed below is the date of the earliest volume held followed by volume or issue numbers. Parentheses indicate that the volumes or years enclosed are incomplete. A dash between numbers indicates a complete run. A dash not followed by a number indicates the Library has all the volumes to the present. A comma between numbers indicates a gap in holdings. For example: 1950- 2-(8),10- means the library has volume 2, dated 1950, through volume 7 complete, vol. 8 incomplete, lacks vol. 9, and has vol. 10 and all volumes to date complete. In some cases the holdings are too scattered to be listed, and are listed as "incomplete." The titles marked with an asterisk (*) are partly held by the University of Michigan and partly by the Wilson Ornithological Society. The entire sets of these titles are available for loan to members. Titles marked with a plus (+) are provided by the University of Michigan, and should be requested through Inter-Library Loan.
